So I arrived back in Thailand, only to be sent to the wrong hotel! I managed to find Lou who had flown in 36 hrs previously. We did a bit of shopping, as Bangkok is just full of everything and I backed up my photos, as the last thing I want to happen is to loose them.
Then to the station to take the overnight south. It wasn't too uncomfortable, but I was constantly worried about falling out of the top bunk when I turned over!
My new group are either quite a bit younger or older than me. They had already been together for a while trekking in the north, but Lou and I fitted in OK.
We arrived at about 6.00am, for some breakfast, and then 2hrs on pubic bus tour next stop, Ko Tao national park, the oldest rain Forrest in the world.
Our home was a tree house, with no hot water, which was fine as it was so humid and hot. The 'resort' was By a river though so swimming to cool off was a welcome option'
Our first taste of the jungle was on an elephant ride. Lou and I were on one, and it was quite bumpy, but a great view from up there! We went to a waterfall and back, and then got to feed our new friends.
The next day we decided to explore the national park. Our Thai guide, Tong had told us that it was possible to do a 4km walk in flip flops. Never again! Over 500 steps and at one point the path was so bad we had to turn back. Lots of great fauna and insects, but that was about it. So tired and hot Lou had a massage and I went swimming.
That night we went to a local bar for a Thai BBQ. Watching the sun set over the limestone crags and listening to the jungle was another trip highlight.
